Since joining TDP I have been able to track my daily carb count and the results are very interesting. For example I ate 72 carbs yesterday. Under the Atkins diet 72 carbs at my height and weight would really not allow for any weight loss, but as we have found under the South Beach Diet, not all carbs are created equal.
My Carb break down:
Quaker Oats Old Fashioned Oatmeal 27g
Milton’s Baking Company Whole Grain Bread 16g
kidney beans, canned 17g
¼ Chiquita Bananna 7g
10 Sun-maid Raisins 8g

Net Carb (86g of carbs minus 14g of fiber) = 72g Carbs
This was the bulk of my carb intake yesterday. As you can see the carbs I am eating are from whole grain sources and not starch and white flour sources. I am also eating less calories for my height, weight and activity level. I should consume 1,612 a day to loose one pound a week, but yesterday I only consumed 1,183 calories. This fact and the eating of the right carbs I am shedding about 1 to 2 pounds a week while still eating very tasty foods.
Again South Beach is not a calorie counting diet plan, but I thought it was interesting to look at.
